Started by Jann Wenner, the very first Rolling Stone was published on November 9, 1967 with John Lennon on the cover. The magazine has grown - gaining the reputation as an influential music, political and cultural power house.
Rolling Stone was one of Clay's most memorable photo shoots. The photographer, Matthew Rolston, seemed to bring out a side of Clay we had never seen before.
Matthew also went on to direct Clay Aiken's first music video, This Is The Night. This video was never released to any music channels but was later included on a special version of On My Way Here (Clay's newest CD released May of 2008) exclusively through QVC. While I agree that the video has nothing to do with the song, it is a feast for the eyes and the ears. Take a peek, do you agree?

Oh yes, I totally agree that he is a feast for the eyes.
As far as I am concerned Clay Aiken is the only person from American Idol that deserved to be on the cover of RS.
great pictures and I love that video, even though Clay did not! LOL
I love seeing all those pictures. They are amazing.
I remember the excitement of Clay being on the cover of Rolling Stone. It was the first RS I ever bought!!
Thanks for the great blog!!
Seeing Clay Aiken in Rolling Stone was amazing. It was my 1st RS, too.
Great video of Clay Aiken. Interesting perspective.
I'll bet Clay Aiken really felt he'd entered an alternate universe with that photo shoot.
Great pictures of a very young Clay Aiken. He has come a long way from then.
Sue, I love those RS pics and the TITN video was HAWT!!
I love that magazine cover of Clay Aiken. I love the TITN video too. I wish it would have been released at the time.
THanks for the blog Sue.
SueReu,
Many thnx for featuring Clay Aiken's "Rolling Stone" spread! Despite his claim to the contrary, he really is special.
Have a super weekend!
Caro
Hooray for Clay!!
I'll never forget how finding that precious Rolling Stone issue at the store was like finding gold! The girl unpacking the new magazine shipments didn't even have them on the shelf yet..I asked her to look for it. She said I was the third person to do that, and by the time she got the unpacking done there might not be any left. I never saw it at any store again. I asked a number of places & all said they sold them out within minutes!
What a guy Clay Aiken is..just the best!
I still have my Clay Aiken Rolling Stone magazine. I loved that interview. I wonder if he could ever have imagined back then, six years ago, what an amazing career he would go on to have!
I remember how excited I was to get my Rolling Stone with Clay Aiken on the cover! Thanks for the reminder and the videos!
Clay has certainly grown since that video. It seemed that the video was an attempt to market him to be a pop star. He wanted to go down a different road.
Holee studmuffin. Didja see the look at the end of that video. Wooooooo....
Phew! Is it HAWT in here?!!!
He was hot then, he's hot now.
Super hot, super cool, super great man!!
It's been six years, unbelievable. Time really does fly when you are having fun.
I love that sweater picture! That long neck, that perfect jawline. I don't think I've ever seen a better profile on a man.
I keep coming back for more. Clay is a handsome man!!
Thanks again for the blog!!
I cannot believe it has been 6 years.
Thanks for the video and thanks for the great pictures!!
Clay Aiken was sexy in that video. Too bad he didn't let it be released at the time.
Love your Clay Aiken pics so much that I had to come back for another look or two or three.....
OH WOW
There's that darned fan again. LOL! The looks he gives with those green eyes are deadly. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the walk down memory lane on the Rolling Stone photos and video. I remember rushing to the store to get my Rolling Stone.
